I work with children who have struggled in maths. Some children will get to the point of preparing for GCSE Higher Level Maths. They will then need to transition to a higher level maths tutor.
GCSE Tuition English Language and Literature
Children who start with me at primary school often stay with me during their high school years. If you are looking for intensive tuition in English Language and Literature then I am not the right tutor for your child.
General Help
My role often evolves to become more of an all round support at high school. I am not an expert in all subjects, but I am an expert in knowing how to help. We can plough through challenging homework in a way that allows a child to focus on the content of what they are learning rather than simply feeling overwhelmed by a set task. I believe this support helps to keep high school children motivated and engaged.
SEND
I work with children who face barriers to learning. The goal is always to work round under or through any difficulties. Sometimes, acceptance, is the right way forward. Sometimes, children just need to talk through how they feel. SEND provision has diminished within the education system. I work in many different ways to ensure that children’s self esteem and confidence is as high as it possibly can be.
What Motivates Me?
I am proud to have a career with a focus on helping young people in their journey from child to teenager. I feel privileged to have worked with so many wonderful children over the years who have blossomed into amazing adults. When children stay with me over a long period of time, we form a strong bond. It is a professional bond, but the most rewarding aspect for me is the mutual respect that emerges. Many children remain in contact years after they have left school.
